In the PBS series “Victoria” there is a story arc that particularly grabbed my attention. While the series’ main characters, Queen Victoria and Prince Philip, were the main theme and stars of the 3-season series, I found myself fascinated by the relationship (or, more accurately, the lack of relationship) of Philip’s brother Ernest and Harriet the Duchess of Sutherland (Mistress of the Robes and close friend to Victoria).
I’ve already described my irrational, romanticized obsession with “Unrequited Love,” so I guess it only makes sense that Ernest & Harriet’s situation appeals to my sense of being a hopeless romantic at heart. I yearned so hard for them to fulfill each of their desires – but alas.
Here is a very nice video compilation of their star-crossed love, appropriately titled “Start Crossed.” And to add to the atmosphere, the video creator used a beautiful song – “Astronomical” by Svrcina. Wonderful!
